 Parijat (Nyctanthyes Arbar – Tristis)


  Known by the Sanskrit name of Parijat or Parijataka, this medium-sized tree is characterized by its branching trunk.  Usually, the branches of each tree and plant are round, but the stems of the branches of the species are quadrangular-square. This is its most special feature.  Another distinguishing feature is its flowers.  Its beauty, multicolored and abundantly fragrant flowers are also its special identity. Parijat flowers are not mentioned even in the novels in the language of literature.

  The flowers of this species are very delicate.  With the slightest movement of the twig, the pile of flowers falls down.  The fragrance of Parijat flowers spreads far and wide with the wind.


  Its English name is also Night Jasmine or Coral Jasmine.  The Latin name is Nyctanthyes Arbor-Tristis.  Another name is also Shefalika.


  Merit -

  The leaves of Parijat are specially used as medicine.


  Sandhivatghno Gudavatadi Doshanuta I is the destroyer of joint pain and swelling.  Parijat is short and rough, yet wind-destroying due to its hot nature.  It is pungent in digestion.  It means bitter fruit.  It is bitter in taste.  It has expectorant properties.  If we consider other qualities and actions, it is antiseptic and Kashyapa due to its hot and pungent. It gives good neurological treatment results by removing the nervous system's inflammation. 

Use -


  Alopecia- Hair fall- Grinding its seeds in water and applying it on hair fall reduces hair fall.  And the lost hair grows back.


  Ranjan - Sciatica is the best medicine for sciatica.  Its effect in sciatica is also more special than in other diseases.  In all diseases like sciatica and joint pain due to gas, boiling Parijat leaves and mixing it with nectar regularly end back pain quickly.


  Vishahar - Apply a paste of Parijat leaves on any insect bite.


  Eczema - Taking an equal quantity of powdered leaves of Parijat and Nachni flour and applying it on eczema is cured.


  Applying parijat leaves soaked in milk is also beneficial in eczema.


  Itching - Dissolving the seeds of Parijat in water and applying it on the head ends itching.


  Ringworm - Applying the juice of Parijat leaves on herpes cures ringworm.
