In a major initiative, Govt.. of India, under the National Solar Mission has set a target of 1,00,000 MW power generation through solar energy in the country including 40,000 MW to be contributed through solar rooftops in various sectors.

In order to achieve this magnitude of capacity, Gujarat has been given the target of 8,024 MW Capacity of Solar Energy by 2021-22, out of which 3,200 MW is to be contributed by the rooftop segment.

Installation of Rooftop Solar Plants on a large scale is one of the best initiatives, as in such plants, there is no requirement of land. Energy is consumed where it is generated; there would be no element of transmission loss or wheeling loss and such plants would be in the interest of the public at large as well as State Utilities. Therefore, with a view of promoting large-scale rooftop solar systems on private residential roofs-terraces, the Government has introduced a subsidy scheme for solar rooftops in the residential sector.This Scheme shall be called “SURYA-Gujarat” (Surya Urja Rooftop Yojana-Gujarat) with the following provisions:

Target: The target for installations of solar rooftops shall be to cater to 2 lac consumers during the year 2019-20 and cumulatively 8 lac consumers by the end of the financial year 2021-22.The system cost mentioned in above table is inclusive of supply, installation, commissioning, comprehensive maintenance contract of 5 years of the complete solar system, bi-directional meter and its testing charges, SMC box for the meter and the connectivity charges to be paid to the DISCOM and standard structure required to install solar PV panel on the rooftop, with minimum surface clearance of 300 mm between the terrace surface and the bottommost edge of the panel. The cost of additional height of the structure required, if any, shall be borne by the beneficiary.

 Any other charges to be paid to DISCOM , on account of requirement of change of phase if any from single to three phase, upgradation of the existing electricity distribution network , shall be borne additionally by the beneficiary, as it is not included in the discovered cost referred in the table above.

 If the Applicant is a single phase consumer of the DISCOM and intends to install a solar roof top system having capacity which necessitates to change the phase of his existing  service connection from single phase to three phase, in such case the requisite charges for enhancement of the phase from single to three phase shall be borne by the consumer being part of the system strengthening, and not included in the discovered cost per kWSalient Features of scheme for Residential Rooftop Solar Projects – 2018 -19

The account can also be closed after 5 years

The account can also be closed up to 5 years after opening. It is allowed to close if a serious illness occurs or if the account is being closed for any other reason. But the interest on it will be paid according to the savings account.

Half the money can be withdrawn when the daughter turns 18

Up to 50% of the cost for higher education of a child after the age of 18 can be withdrawn in the account of Sukanya Samrudhi Yojana. To open an account it is necessary to give birth certificate of daughter. Proof of identity and address of the child and parents must be provided. This account can be transferred anywhere in the country. This facility is available to the account holder if he / she shifts from the original place of account opening to another place. There is no charge for this. If the account is being closed before the completion of 21 years, the account holder has to give an affidavit that the daughter is not less than 18 years of age at the time of closing the account.

Benefit from tax exemption

A maximum of Rs 1.5 lakh can be deposited under Sukanya Samrudhi Yojana in the current financial year. The benefit of tax exemption under Section 80C of the Income Tax Act can also be availed on deposits under Sukanya Samrudhi Yojana.

The Rajasthan State Government is planning to reopen schools for secondary, senior secondary and higher educational institutes in the state from January 2021. The State Education Department has sent a detailed proposal to the government which is under review and will be implemented once the government approves the same.

According to a proposal floated by the education department, classes 9 to 12 on a trial basis will resume in the first week of January 2021 for 15 days and a decision about the further reopening of schools might be taken after reviewing the same.

Major universities including Delhi University, Jamia Millia Islamia, IGNOU are expected to open for physical classes in 2021. While state universities that have started physical classes for selected practical courses have announced to hold physical sessions for other courses as well. On the other hand, in the wake of upcoming board examinations, some states have allowed school administration to conduct classes. States including Bihar, Odisha, Delhi, Karnataka, Puducherry, Assam and Pune will resume physical classes in schools from January 2021 onward.

Schools and PU colleges will reopen on January 1 for students of classes 10 and 12 as scheduled, the Department of Primary and Secondary Education has said. Schools will be opened after a span of nine-and-a-half months.

Though the government had announced the date earlier this month, because of the emergence of a new strain of the coronavirus in the U.K., department officials were in a dilemma on whether the reopening should be as per schedule. The State government had then stepped up its monitoring mechanism and was screening all passengers who were arrivitng from the U.K.

Karnataka Education Minister S Suresh Kumar on Monday announced that regular classes for students of Classes 10 and 12 will commence from January 1, 2021. The state had earlier decided to reopen regular classes for Class 10, second pre-university and Vidyagama programme for government school students from Class 6 to Class 9 from January 1.

Karnataka Primary and Secondary Education Minister S Suresh Kumar said, “From January 1, classes will resume. There have been speculations, but whatever programmes we have planned from January 1 will go on.”

The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) will most likely conduct the Gujarat board exams 2021 for students of classes 10 and 12 in May, as suggested by several media reports and the exact dates for the same will be released soonIt is speculated that the date sheet for the Gujarat board exams 2021 will be released by the end of next week on the official website of GSEB, gseb.org. Along with the date sheet, the instructions and guidelines for the exams will also be released.

The GSHSEB is likely to conduct the Gujarat board exams 2021 for classes 10 and 12 from two dates- May 10 and May 17. One of these two dates will be picked and the detailed timetable for the board exams will be released by next week.

The Gujarat board had announced the decision to postpone the board exams for this academic session in November 2020. This decision was taken to give students some extra time to prepare for the exams as no classroom studies were conducted this year due to the pandemic.

Number of exam centres increased

The number of examination centres for the Gujarat board exams 2021 has been increased this year from 5500 to 6700 to maintain social distancing norms set by the central government. The number of examination rooms has also been increased this year.

This year around 10.5 lakh students are likely to register for Class 10 board exams and 5.30 lakh students for class 12 board exams.

It has also been noted that around 60 percent of the examination centres are set to fall in rural areas.

The syllabus for students of classes 10 and 12 has also been reduced this year to relieve the students of some academic pressure caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. The same move has been made by several state boards in view of the pandemic.It is also being speculated that there will be several changes made to the examination pattern of the Gujarat board exams 2021. The dates for the CBSE board exams 2021 have also been released. The examinations are set to begin on May 4.
